I was working at Wawa 42 and Asia was running the deli. The line at the register was wrapped around the store. Asia asked me to go help the register person with the very long line. I was really sad because I missed my friends so I asked her if on my way back, I could take a second to myself. Before that, a man had gotten upset about something and we asked Ralph to come out and de-escalate so now he was just on the floor checking facing products. When I go up there, Ralph had beat me to the register but I go help anyway. I’m checking out a white man and he puts a water bottle on the counter and I scan it. The way he looks at me when I scan it I can already tell I did something wrong, but he doesn’t say anything and he just pays for the one water bottle and he walks away. He has more drinks and I realize I didn’t scan them. I feel bad but instead of him telling me that I didn’t scan them, He starts banging the drinks on the cold box. At first we thought it was an accident so we didn’t look up but then after he did it multiple times, everyone was looking at him. He started yelling about something I didn’t understand and then he pulled out a gun. I was frozen in fear looking at him. He started shooting wildly and I fell to the floor and started crawling. I was worried about Asia and I didn’t want him to shoot me. I tried to crawl away, but he grabbed me by my legs and said “MY BROTHER WAS BLACK!”. I close my eyes in anticipation for the painful gunshot wound then I woke up.
Dreams often draw from your subconscious and reflect your emotions, fears, and experiences in metaphorical or symbolic ways. Here’s a breakdown of the elements in your dream and their possible interpretations:
Setting (Wawa 42 and Deli): Working in a familiar place, like Wawa, suggests you might be dealing with routine tasks or duties in waking life. The deli and retail setting can symbolize the hustle and bustle of daily life and the services you provide to others. It may represent obligations and your role in serving or helping others.
Long Line and Helping the Register: The long line can indicate feeling overwhelmed or burdened by responsibilities. It suggests that there may be a backlog of tasks or stressors in your life that need addressing. Being asked to help the register person implies you may feel pressure from others to step up and assist in resolving these overwhelming demands.
Feelings of Missing Friends: Asking for a moment to yourself highlights a need for personal time and perhaps a longing for connection with loved ones. It reflects feelings of isolation or missing out on personal relationships due to your current responsibilities.
Ralph's De-escalation Role: Ralph assisting in de-escalation represents a part of yourself or someone in your life who helps manage conflict or stress. His role in calming situations might symbolize your reliance on external help when feeling unsettled or threatened.
Unscanned Drinks and Customer's Anger: The water bottle incident could represent oversight or unintentional mistakes that have unforeseen consequences. You might fear not meeting expectations or overlooking important details that could lead to misunderstandings or conflict. The customer's anger and subsequent aggression symbolize a fear of repercussions from mistakes or from those dissatisfied with your actions.
Gun and Shooting Fear: The appearance of a gun introduces elements of fear, danger, or vulnerability. It might signify your fears about conflict, aggression, or feeling attacked. Experiencing such a violent event can reflect inner turmoil, anxiety, or feeling threatened by certain situations in your life.
Crawling and Escape Attempt: Your attempt to crawl away indicates a desire to escape from fear-inducing situations. It shows a struggle with feeling trapped or powerless in circumstances beyond your control.
“MY BROTHER WAS BLACK!”: This phrase could be tied to current social tensions or deeply rooted issues around race, identity, and understanding. Its sudden and direct delivery suggests an emotional or unresolved aspect concerning equality, diversity, or personal beliefs.
Overall, this dream may be a way for your subconscious to process fears and stressors in your life, whether they pertain to personal relationships, social concerns, or internal anxieties. Consider reflecting on these aspects or talking through these feelings with someone you trust, as it might help in alleviating some of the tension depicted in your dream.
